Mrs. Grindstaff started her educational journey at the Berry College where she double majored in Psychology and Business. After graduating she went directly to University of Tennessee at Chattanooga to continue her education. She earned her Masters in Education with a concentration of School Counseling. She started her career in the counseling department for the Hamilton County School District in Chattanooga Tennessee. After two years, she transferred to Cobb County School District and started at Nicolson Elementary as a school counselor.
Through her career journey while in Cobb County School District she also served as an Area Lead Teacher instructing teachers effective teaching strategies and in leadership as an Assistant Principal for seven years at Sope Creek Elementary School. Her love of counseling eventually called her back to her roots, school counseling. She is entering her 6th year at Tritt Elementary. This is her 25th year in elementary education. Mrs. Grindstaff is a is dedicated professional who likes to share her experience and knowledge to help students, their families and school staff reach their level of personal best. Her passion is helping students develop and utilizing a growth mindset and how the brain works. She loves the proactive nature of elementary school counseling in setting up a solid foundation for future endeavors for students Mrs. Hodgin started her educational journey at the University of West Georgia where she earned a degree in Psychology and Sociology. She worked for a nonprofit organization that focused on children in the Department of Family and Children Services and the Department of Juvenile Justice systems. Next up was Georgia State University where she earned her Master’s degree in Professional Counseling and School Counseling in 2008. She started working as school counselor in Gwinnett County at a middle school until 2016. During that time, she earned a Specialist degree from the University of Georgia and graduated in 2012. Mrs. Hodgin has been working in East Cobb Elementary schools since 2016. She is also an Associate Professional Counselor, whom is nationally certified, and worked in the private practice setting serving children and adolescents. Professionally, Mrs. Hodgin has earned several honors through her years as a school counselor. She was named Middle School Counselor of the Year for Gwinnett County in 2013 and Georgia School Counselor of the Year Semifinalist in 2014. In 2015, Mrs. Hodgin was recognized at a White House ceremony as the American School Counselor Association School Counselor of the Year Semifinalist, ranked in the top sixteen in the nation. Mrs. Hodgin is a fun loving person who is dedicated to providing children with the best school counseling experience. She loves children, believes in the power of the school counseling program, and is able to work with other educators to remove barriers for student success. Mrs. Hodgin likes to create innovative experiences and have fun with students, staff, and families of the community! Follow Us! |
